Pay Monthly Phones- What Are The Benefits?

Pay monthly phones (otherwise called post pay phones) allow you to pay for all your phone calls at the end of each month. You are, in effect, given your calls and (depending on the details on your contract) your phone on credit, which is why most operators will perform a credit check before signing you up. Mobile phones were originally only offered on a pay monthly basis, so consumers have had a long time to assess whether the mobile phone deal was suited their lifestyle. Typically, the consumers fall into three key groups.

1. People who are looking for a new phone: Most pay monthly plans will include a phone for free or at a discounted price. The networks do this because they can spread the cost of the phone over the length of the contract, so they don't need to recover the cost of the handset upfront. Indeed generally, the network will charge as little as it can upfront as consumers are attracted to "free" mobile phones when they are looking at plans. Many networks will also subsidise the cost of the handset on some plans to attract more customers to their network. The overall cost of the contract, even with a new phone, can therefore be extremely good value.

2.Those who want the latest handsets: Given the low up-front costs of most pay monthly phones, they are a great way of launching top end handsets, which are often available exclusively on a pay monthly plan.

3. Those who value loyalty: In 2008, Moneysupermarket estimated that 12 million of us have never changed our mobile phone network. Whilst some of us may find that strange, staying with a network has several advantages. Signing up to a long-term contract could gain you access to better deals than would otherwise be available. Additionally, if you are offered a better deal elsewhere, your network provider is likely to match it if you are a valuable customer. Those are some of the benefits of signing up for a pay monthly plan but the deal that is right for you will depend on your circumstances.
